Situated half way between Pipiriki and Whanganui, The Flying Fox is the ideal place to break your journey on the Mountains to Sea Trail.Store your bike securely and take the aerial cable car across the river to this unique site. With accommodation options ranging from camping sites and glamping tents to hand-built rustic cottages, you are sure to find something to suit your taste and budget.
All the accommodation units are fully self-contained should you wish to self- cater and there is a small shop on site for supplies.
However, you could treat yourself to the special ‘Mountain Bikers Package’ which includes dinner, bed, breakfast and a packed lunch.
The Flying Fox is set in lush organic gardens with a back drop of the National Park and is designed for rest and relaxation. With no road access or cell phone reception all you need to do is relax, enjoy the books and music provided or lie back in one of the wood-fired bush baths to ease those aching muscles. In fact, you may just want to stay for a rest day prior to the final push into Whanganui!
