The Ohakune Events Charitable Trust delivers a portfolio of iconic community and outdoor events across the Ruapehu District. Our kaupapa is to promote the region, celebrate its unique landscapes, and support local wellbeing through sustainable, well-managed events.

We work closely with our communities and regional partners to create high-quality experiences that encourage people to explore, connect with, and enjoy the trails, maunga, and wider environment that make Ruapehu special. Our events attract participants and visitors from across Aotearoa and around the world, contributing positively to the local economy while supporting community initiatives and charitable outcomes.

We are proud to support the Mountains to Sea – Ngā Ara Tūhono Great Ride and the wider trail network.

The Goat – A challenging alpine trail run on Mt Ruapehu, known for steep climbs, technical terrain and big mountain views.
Tussock Traverse – A scenic point-to-point trail run across open tussock country and high-country landscapes.
Ring of Fire – An iconic endurance trail event circumnavigating Mt Ruapehu through rugged volcanic terrain.
